In many studio sessions, Doctor Fink also helped solidify the Minneapolis Sound by appearing on releases for Lipps Inc., The Time, Vanity 6 and many more. The album sold more than 13 million copies in the US, earning the rare "diamond award", the album also won an Oscar for the Best Movie Score. In 1985 Doctor Fink and his bandmates won a Grammy for the live performance of the album "Purple Rain", while the movie (in which Fink plays himself) was one of the biggest blockbusters in 1984.
